Semey State Medical University, formerly known as Semipalatinsk State Medical Institute is one of the finest universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was incepted in the year 1953. After around four decades of its inception, on the order of the Health Services Committee of Kazakhstan, the university was renamed Semey State Medical University. The university is officially recognised and authorised by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and various international bodies like the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). There are various departments of specialisation proffered by the university. Over 3500 students are currently pursuing their education in fields like General Medicine, Stomatology, etc. The students practice at the various affiliated hospitals.
