West Kazakhstan Medical University is a dream for every aspiring medical student. It is a pre-eminent medical educational centre located in the West region of Kazakhstan. The most distinguishing factor of this medical, research and diagnostic centre is that it has state-of-the-art clinical units to its name including Medical Centre, Family Medicine Clinic, and Dental Clinic. 

The history of this esteemed university dates back to 1957. The order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR established this university. On September 1st, Aktobe State Medical Institute (ASMI), with a specialty in Medicine, was founded with the motive of providing well-qualified medical professionals in Western, as well as North-Western Kazakhstan. Over the years, this university has become a medical and cultural hub that appeals to medical aspirants across the world. Today, this university is counted among the best universities in the world. It imparts medical education to thousands of students every year using the most modern technologies and innovative approaches. 

The university has 70 different departments and courses. It has 6 Bachelor’s programs including General Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Care Management, as well as Nursing Care. It provides postgraduate training in 4 specialities in the Master’s program, 18 specialities in the residency program, and 2 specialities in the doctoral program along with advanced training of nurses and physicians in 29 specialities. It also imparts primary professional retraining in around 22 specialities. 

Over 500 qualified teachers impart their thorough theoretical and practical knowledge to the students. The teaching staff includes 1 laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 1 academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, 2 Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 5 academicians, as well as corresponding members, of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 36 doctors, and 175 candidates of medical science.
